How to Grocery Shop for Clean Eating!

Picture your favorite grocery store. Chances are the fresh produce section, the meat and seafood departments and the dairy case are all located around the perimeter of the store. This is where you should do most of your grocery shopping. Fresh foods are generally healthier than the ready-to-eat foods found in the middle aisles. This will also help control fat and sodium in your diet. Here is a grocery list that could help you choose what you should be buying!

What is Clean Eating anyway?

So what IS clean eating?
Clean Eating is a lifestyle that puts the boot to processed, packaged foods dripping with sodium and unpronounceable ingredients. It focuses on natural, nutrient-packed foods that let your body run the way it’s supposed to. Change how you look and feel with clean eating. Look to add fruits, vegetables, whole grains, healthy proteins and fats.

Banana Oatmeal Muffin

Here is a great muffin recipe that I am actually making tonight!

Banana Oatmeal Muffin
Banana Oatmeal
Muffin
s
INGREDIENTS:
2.5 cups old fashioned oats
1 cup plain low fat greek yogurt
2 eggs
1/2 cup honey
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
2 TBSP ground flax seed
1 tsp vanilla
2 ripe bananas
DIRECTIONS:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray tin with non-stick cooking spray or line 12 muffin tins with silicone or muffin liners.
2. Place the oats in the food processor and pulse for about 10 seconds.
3. Add remaining ingredients to the food processor.
4. Process until everything is mixed together and oats are smooth.
At this point in the process, you can add any extras you want. (walnuts, chocolate chips, pecans...)
5. Divide batter among cupcake liners and bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
*When I made these I ended up with more than 12 muffins. So I would say it depends on the size of your tin pan as to how many muffins you will get from this recipe.

Get kids moving!!

As a teacher, I have truly seen children who are obese. It makes me sad. I love how to NFL promotes Play 60. For kids, exercise is really just playing. Too many kids don't just go play outside. I know there are sometimes circumstances where that wouldn't be safe, etc., but for most kids that is always an option. One thing that I found for my students when we have inside recess is Adventure to Fitness. It is so great! The whole point of the videos is to "never stop moving"! It is an adventure where they learn about different places and usually have to run or climb or jump to get away from something. The kids think its fun. Of course, I always have some resistance, but it is a fun way to keep moving when indoors.

Shakeology Ingredients

A lot of people think that you can replicate Shakeology. Wouldn't it be cool if you could, but you can't! Even though you could buy all of those ingredients, the cost of what it would be to do so would be astronomical. This is by far the healthiest meal of the day and when you see what it could really cost, you will quickly realize that it is well worth what it costs! Check out this video:
